Surgery

Many of our surgeons sub-specialize and have completed fellowships in a variety of areas including: sports medicine, joint replacement, hand and upper extremity, problems of the foot and ankle, and spine care. They are supported by physicians from a variety of other specialties including: internal and family medicine, cardiology, pathology, radiology and anesthesiology. These physicians assist with your care during your entire stay. In addition, area physicians may use the facility for other specialty surgeries relating to their patients.

Patients at Nebraska Orthopaedic Hospital experience superior outcomes provided by physicians and staff dedicated to serving their needs. Surgical patients at our hospital have an infection rate of 0.4%. The hospital consistently exceeds state and, often times, national comparisons by hospital for the prevention of surgical infection.

Outpatient Surgery

Over 80% of the surgeries performed at Nebraska Orthopaedic Hospital are outpatient surgeries, meaning there is no overnight stay and the patient is on their way home a few hours after surgery. These patients will travel from the pre-op area, where they will be prepped for surgery, to their surgical suite and then finally to the post-op area to recover. Patients and their caretakers are given directions on proper care upon leaving the hospital.

Inpatient Surgery

For some surgeries patients are required to stay overnight. Our staff of nurses are available to care for these patients on the inpatient floor of the hospital. Nebraska Orthopaedic Hospital has 24 private inpatient rooms designed to make patients feel at home. Patients are provided with access to entertainment, dining and a comfortable place for an overnight guest. Learn more about our guest suites and accommodations in the Patient Information section.
