NOH Sports Medicine Program

Sports medicine is a specialty that addresses the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of injuries caused by participation in sports or exercise. At Nebraska Orthopaedic Hospital, we employ a team approach. Our sports medicine team focuses on preventing, diagnosing, and treating injuries related to playing sports and exercise, with a primary focus of rapid recovery and safe return to activity.  Our physical therapists have been working closely with the NOH Sports Medicine physicians to create treatment regimes to accelerate the healing response, and shorten recovery times, and get athletes back onto the field. We also invite active participation and collaboration by coaches, athletic trainers and families.

Our physical therapists at NOH recognize that each patient has their own unique needs and desired outcomes.  At the outset of care, a personalized treatment program is developed based on the patient’s injury, age, sport, and other lifestyle needs.  We also take into account unique factors such as patterns of movement during specific sports, body alignment, and treatment goals in order to develop the most effective customized physical therapy and rehabilitation plans possible.  Many of our therapists are currently involved in competing and coaching around the Omaha area, so have a greater understanding of sport-specific movements, mechanics and physical demands of competitive activities.

Our Team

The physicians of the NOH Sports Medicine Team are specialists and leaders in their field. Consisting of board certified orthopaedic surgeons who are dedicated to delivering the highest standard of healthcare, these physicians are trained in the latest sports medicine procedures and technologies. The NOH Sports Medicine Team is supported by an talented network of physician assistants, physical and occupational therapists and athletic trainers who are working together to provide outstanding care for every athlete.
