Inpatient Physical and Occupational Therapy

Following your surgery at NOH, your doctor may order physical and or occupational therapy services to begin rehabilitation. Your therapists will work with you one on one to develop goals and treatments for your postoperative course.

Your therapists have in depth knowledge of your orthopaedic procedure and any restrictions you may have, and will work with you and your caregivers on a safe transition back to your home environment. Goals which may be covered (depending on your surgery) include: walking, transfers, dressing, bathing, equipment needs, navigating stairs, and fall prevention.

At NOH we care about your success and want to help you get back home easily after your hospital stay.  We have the latest equipment to help simulate your home environment while you are with us. Items we have for you to use and try include:

  • A variety of stairs to simulate your home situation
  • A car transfer simulator to practice getting in/out of your car
  • A model bathroom to practice transitions in/out of your tub/shower or on/off your toilet
  • Trial equipment for bathing, toileting, and dressing to increase your function at home, and services to line up this equipment as needed for take home.
  • An assortment of trial assistive devices to assist in mobility and determination of needs for home mobility
